History
Dankook University (DKU) was established in Seoul as the first full-time private university after independance.
The university was founded based on the financial donations of Mrs. Hyedang, Cho Huijae and the educational philosophy of Mr. Beomjeong, Chang Hyong.
The founding spirit was that of National Salvation, Independence, and Self-Reliance.
The two founders had personally experienced the sorrow of losing their country under Japanese rule and were eventually convinced that independence could only be achieved through educating talented individuals. They believed it was Dankook University’s duty to train such enlightened individuals.
